The Funny & Fucked Up

The Funny

After Bill O'Reilly tells Columbia University professor Dr. Marc Lamont Hill that he looks like a cocaine dealer, Dr. Hill responds: "You look like a cocaine user."

A couple of feminist blogs have talked about a new right-wing website called America Speaking Out. Conservatives post their ideas to improve America, and visitors to the site vote for the ideas. It appears that several funny liberals have taken the site over and posted some jokes.

The Fucked Up

A radio station in Columbus, Ohio had a contest in which the "winner" gets a trip to Phoenix, Arizona to "chase aliens." You can encourage them to apologize here.

An elementary school teacher in Norfolk, Virginia gave four-inch plastic fetus dolls to their students, along with anti-choice messages.

The Fucked Up:

New Jersey legislators nix the gay marriage bill. It's the worst thing to happen to New Jersey since Snooki and The Situation.

A Little Bit of Both:

When talking about how great the GOP platform is to Sean Hannity (who I'm sure has no opinion on the matter at all), Michael Steele says "Honest Injun," which I don't think I've heard since like Kindergarten. God, Michael Steele. It's "word is bond." If you can't get the lingo right, how are any of your Republican friends going to remember that you're Black?

The latest from Bryan Safi shows us that teh gay, despite what the religious wrong seems to think, actually makes everything all better.

A Tonight Show sketch about Sweden's tax-payer supported feminist porn film.

The Fucked Up:

Another "family values" Republican resigns after bragging about his affair -- while his mic was on. He said, "She wears little eye-patch underwear. So, the other day she came here with her underwear, Thursday. And
so, we had made love Wednesday--a lot! And so she'll, she's all, 'I am going
up and down the stairs, and you're dripping out of me!' So messy!" You kiss your mistress with that mouth? Ewwwwwwww.

The Funny & the Fucked Up

The Funny:

Speak for me, Ron Reagan, because I'm way too nice to say it:

Limbaugh hasn't had a natural erection since the Nixon Administration; think he's compensating for something? Now, I wouldn't pick on him for any of this stuff, not his blubbiness, not his man-boobs, not his inability to have a natural erection—none of that stuff—to me, off limits until! until! Mr. Limbaugh, you turn that sort of gun on somebody else—once you start doing that, you're fair game, fat boy. Absolutely, you jiggly pile of mess. You're just fair game, and you're going to get it, too.

Would you teabag President Obama?

Yes indeed: 0 votes
No way: 1 vote
*unintelligible*: 4 votes

I'll put up a new poll once I think of a question.

The Fucked Up:

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) calls the story of Matthew Sheperd's murder a hoax, despite all evidence to the contrary. Then, she apologizes for her "poor word choice," not for the fact that she doesn't have her shit straight.

A Little Bit of Both:

Carrie "Opposite Marriage" Prejean becomes the spokes-darling for the National Organization for Marriage (for some people). Here she is reading at Ron Burgundy level and not knowing when to stop answering questions. Unfortunately, nobody asked Miss Prejean that if she thinks she lost the Miss USA pageant because of her views on marriage equality, does that mean Miss South Carolina from the 2007 Miss Teen USA pageant lost because of her views on international map availability? Seriously, access to marriage and maps are both extremely controversial issues in this country. But I'd just like to tell Miss Prejean that she didn't lose because of her opposition to gay marriage. She lost because she has love handles. Come on, this is a beauty pageant we're talking about.

And to update, the purse and bag that were stolen from my house on Monday morning were found by neighbors and returned on Friday. All the was stolen then was my mother's wallet.

The Funny and the Fucked Up (Mostly Funny Stuff, Though)

The Funny

Pope condoms! I'm still not sure whether these are more or less effective than Trojans. The Pope believes that condoms spread HIV, so of course his brand would need to suck in order for the prophecy to be self-fulfilled. But I think the Pope's face on a rubber is enough to kill the romance.

Portia de Rossi apologizes for marry Ellen DeGeneres on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The following videos have nothing to do with anything, but they're still funny. Enjoy these infomercial parodies:

A Little Bit of Both

Alan Keyes' latest hydrophobic rant is against Norte Dame for inviting President Obama to speak at this year's commencement. We get it, Keyes. Now that Barack Obama is the President and Michael Steele is the head of the Republican Party, you're the other other Black guy. You're a notch below Tracy Morgan when he was on Saturday Night Live. It's a sucky place, but it's yours now. Anyway, I wouldn't suggest reading the whole thing. The three paragraphs posted at Pandagon were enough to make me cry.

Is President Obama more like Hitler or more like the rapture beast? You decide!

Gov. Bobby Jindal's rebuttal was brought to you by the letter K and the number 30, as in Kenneth the Page from 30 Rock.

The Fucked Up

A legislator in Colorado wishes HIV on babies. “What I’m hoping is that, yes, that person may have AIDS, have it seriously as a baby and when they grow up, but the mother will begin to feel guilt as a result of that,” he said. “The family will see the negative consequences of that promiscuity and it may make a number of people over the coming years begin to realize that there are negative consequences and maybe they should adjust their behavior.”

A website that sells wife beater tank tops gives discounts to customers who can prove they were convicted of domestic violence. That hurt to type. Luckily, the site has been shut down.

The Funny and the Fucked Up

The Funny:

Rachel Maddow steals Keith Olbermann's glasses and does an interview on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Stephen Colbert defends Ledbetter v. Goodyear.

The Fucked Up:

A Black man was shot in the back by a police officer while in police custody in Oakland.

Both:

The snuggle film industry (as Marge Simpson might say) wants a federal bailout. Larry Flynt pleaded with Congress, "With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind. It's time for congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America." Paging Larry Craig! Paging Mark Foley! Return to Congress immediately to sexify the joint!

Joe the Unlicensed Plumber is now heading for Israel to become Joe the Wannabe War Correspondent for PJTV, some right-wing thing. I'm actually gonna go on and thank PJTV for getting Joe out of the country. Well done!

Prop 8: The Musical shows the benefits of gay marriage. It stars some very funny people, like Margaret Cho, Jack Black, Andy Richter, John C. Reilly, and NPH.

Belledame222 at Fetch Me My Axe posted some funny would-be Men's Rights Activist blog titles.

The Fucked Up:

Amanda Palmer's record label won't promote her new single or video because she is "fat." Palmer, of Dresden Dolls fame, tried to leave her record label, but they won't let her. She gives the full story here.

Some dude from New Zealand blames women's lib and abortion for violence against women. This answers the age-old question "What do Orcs do when they're not guarding Mordor?" They whine to the public.

Sarah Haskins' latest video is all about cars. Those sexy, fuckable cars.

Fundamentally Flawed takes on the anti-gay bigots with sharp wit.

One of my Feministing Community blog posts made it to the main page. And it inspired like five flame wars.

The Fucked Up

A Catholic priest in South Carolina tells his parishioners not to receive communion if they voted for Obama. What has to happen before churches like this lose their tax exempt status? I'm sure Catholic churches paying taxes in a "pro-abortion" country is no more unholy than that same money going towards paying for kid-toucher insurance.

Mike Huckabee thinks LGBTs have to suffer more before they can get civil rights. Until then, being gay is totally bearable. And because Huckabee has such impeccable timing, he said all of that the day before International Transgender Day of Remembrance.

A Little Bit of Both

Focus on the Family is laying off 20% of its workforce. Think of it as a sign from God to get out of the gay-bashing business.

John Claude Van Damme attempted to hit on a Newsweek reporter with his . . . je ne sais quoi. Seriously, JC. Je ne sais quoi the Hell you are doing. "I really opened myself up in 'JCVD.' I peeled back the skin of the fruit, cut the pulp and then took that very hard seed. In this film I cut that hard seed, and inside that seed was a kind of liquid cream substance of the man I am, or the woman you are." Hard seed cream, ne sont pas des mots qui vont tres bien ensemble.

The Funny & the Fucked Up

The Funny

Keith Olbermann went on The View on Monday. And, no, he's not standing.

Rachel Maddow compiles some of the funniest Bushisms.

And this has nothing to do with anything, but Joe Scarborough said "fuck you" on his show and didn't realize it for like 2 minutes. Hi-larious!

The Fucked Up

Former Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin thinks "living with their parents" is an insult. Excuse me, but some of us have to work to pay for our student loans and graduate school tuition, unlike some people *wink*.

A man in Tanzania attempted to sell his albino wife, because body parts from albinos are apparently great for potion-making. The article doesn't say if he tried to sell her to protect her from being killed or to profit from her albinism. Either way, that's fucked up.

A Little Bit of Both

Lindsay Lohan called Barack Obama our first "colored" president. And she said "colored" softly and quickly, like she knew it was wrong. Although, she said "fruition" that way too.

And Joe the Plumber, who has no right to practice plumbing, has a website! It's called Secure the American Dream, which apparently involves stiffing America out of taxes. And none of the links work. Joe the Web Designer he is not.

The Funny & the Fucked Up

While I was sick this week, I thought of a new weekly segment! It's called "The Funny & the Fucked Up." Basically, it's a funny story or video of a feminist nature and another story or video that's seriously fucked up. I wanted to start this on Friday, but I was too tired to post it. So let's just say I'll start this new segment officially on Friday and call this a sneak peak.

The Funny:

Stephen Colbert wishes his mommy a happy 88th birthday. Super cute!

And the Fucked Up:

Smear Channel darling Jim Quinn thinks slavery was like totally awesome for Black people. But he doesn't volunteer himself to be a slave. Odd.
